About Wimbledon

Wimbledon – famous for hosting the annual tennis championships – is a suburb in South West London, making part of the London Burough of Merton. The area is a famous and fashionable suburb 20 minutes from the centre of London by underground or main line train. It is wonderful place to visit at any time of the year and, even if located only 10 miles far from London, feels like it is in the heart of the countryside.
Wimbledon is one of London's best kept secrets! During the time it has developed into a mature residential and commercial village with wonderful cafes and shops. The city has three theatres, a multi–screen cinema and many pubs and restaurants to cater for the cosmopolitan and ever changing tastes of London. There is a superb indoor shopping area – named Centre Court – sports facilities including the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club – home of the world famous Wimbledon Tennis Championships held in the last week of June and first week of July – a tennis museum and Wimbledon Common, the best place to go for a gentle stroll and see one of London's most famous parks. In Wimbledon Common you will find also the Wimbledon Windmill Museum depicting – as its name suggests – the history of windmills.
It is a district of high quality housing, with green, tidy gardens, and offers many open spaces, sport grounds and great opportunities for relaxed walks.

Generally speaking, Wimbledon is an area well served by road, bus and rail links. Its railway station represents the terminus for the district line of the London underground network and frequent trains run to Waterloo station, which is very near to Central London. In addition, the city has one of the best taxi services of any suburban London's borough, both during day and night.

Wimbledon is probably one of the best places to fully breathe the typical English atmosphere in a relaxed and familiar social background.
