School Description

Education Centre DURBE (DURBE) has more than 12 years experience in international language tourism. EC DURBE is the only international private language school recognized by Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia and what has Bildungsurlaub accreditation as well. To be a member of such international organisations as FIYTO and ALTO allows us to be up to date with the latest field trends and guaranties the highest possible quality for money you pay for your course.

School building / location

The school is situated in the capital of Latvia-Riga, on the main – Brivibas /Freedom/ street and occupies 2 floors of an old Art nouveau building in the heart of the town. All classrooms are fully equipped with the latest in learning technology, including free Internet access for students. There are a lot of cafes around the school where students can have a cup of coffee and snacks. The school is within walking distance of many entertainment places: Old Town, Opera house, cinemas, sports and leisure centres are just 5-15 minutes away.

Staff:

You will be met by our friendly, welcoming staff ready to help and assist you. We at DURBE highly evaluate quality, responsibility and reliability. Our tutors – experienced professionals specialized to teach Russian as a foreign language with additional qualifications in culture studies, business, science, law etc. They are like actors who invite you to join a performance, at the same time motivating you to master Russian grammar through games and songs. At the end of the course you will be happy with the acquired knowledge and will have great memories of the time you have enjoyed with your new friends.

Accommodation:

We know that accommodation at the country of your stay is very important – it affects your ability to study and improve Russian language, explore the city and get new impressions and experience.
EC Durbe can offer you several types of accommodation to choose:

• Russian Host family accommodation - to get the most of your stay, get excellent additional Russian language practise and find out more about local people traditions. For Visa students we offer only Guest House accommodation;
• Guest House - for those who prefer more independent stay. We have a wonderfull Russian speaking Guest House ‘’Ezerkrasti’’ with a nice nature around, near the lake;
• Apartments are also avaialble at the city center and close to the school;
• Hotels - we are happy to advice you a good  hotel to stay during your study;
• Houses for short term rents - a unique opportunity to rent a beautiful house in Jurmala.

Activities:

EC Durbe Language school takes care about students free time after the lessons and therefore we can offer some included in the price and optional activities. Students will have a chance not only to study Russian, but also to practise their Russian in everyday life, to go sightseeing around Riga and the most popular and beautiful places in Latvia. Although we are a small country, you will be surprized how much it can offer!

Teaching Materials:

We are proud to be an official partner of the publishing house Zlatoust, St.Petersburg, Russia, specialized in the materials on teaching Russian as a foreign language. They let our teachers make learning process gradual, corresponding to your interests, desires or special purposes. Such unique books as "Grammar in jokes" and "Fairy tales" during the Russian lesson get you acquainted with everyday life, traditions and characters of Russian people but "Russia today" through texts from Russian newspapers informs about youth culture, attitudes to work, modes of entertainment and social problems in contemporary Russia.
