School Description

Liden & Denz was founded in St. Petersburg in 1992 with the aim of providing first class Russian courses in a well structured setting. The task was not easy: Russia was about to change beyond recognition and nobody really quite knew, in which direction these changes were pointing.

Almost 15 years after our first students had received their certificates, our ever increasing student numbers are proof that learning Russian is considered a valuable asset today , apart from the fact that it is great fun.

• CSN: Students from Sweden can apply for a CSN scholarships when learning at the Liden & Denz Language Centre, if they study at least for 13 weeks and if they enrol through one of our authorised agents in Sweden. More information on request.

School building / location

Our school in St.Petersburg is situated in the historical city centre, close to the well-known Nevsky Prospekt and about 300 metres away from the nearest metro station (Ligovsky Prospect) in a central yet quiet neighbourhood. The school occupies the top floor (4th floor, no elevator) of a 19th century building. We operate 15 classrooms (11 suitable for groups, 4 for mini-groups or individuals) all year round.

Facilities:

At our school in St.Petersburg, we run 15 modern equipped classrooms, offer free internet access (including wireless zone for students' own notebooks) and operate a school cafeteria that is open from 9 AM to 9 PM. In addition, students have at their disposal a self-access centre and a library, a theatre ticket booking service and a domestic travel desk. Further, we offer a varied cultural programme, which we change every fortnight.

Accommodation:

Accommodations are now priced separately from the course. Prices include airport transfer upon arrival for students staying in host families or shared apartments (only on Sundays!) . Most participants choose the homestay option. All of the families are carefully selected and regularly monitored by the school. The rooms are clean and, by Russian standards, spacious. Most of the host families live in the modern, suburban areas of St. Petersburg. Participants will have a private room with half board during the week and full board on the weekends. Maximum travel time to the school is 50 minutes. Accommodation is booked form Sunday to Sunday (arrival MUST be on Sunday). The school now also offers apartment shares.

Activities:

To ensure students have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with this magnificent city, the Center organizes at least two outings a week, such as theater visits (opera/drama/ballet), theme excursions (e.g. on Russian orthodoxy, Katherine the Great), trips to the Hermitage, shopping tours and excursions to the countryside and to other cities, such as Pushkin, Pavlovsk, Novgorod or Moscow. Participants will receive a monthly program of the activities organized by the school. Transportation costs and entrance fees are not included in the price.

Visa Information:

The school provides all participants with an Invitation Letter which is necessary to obtain the visa. The visa fee will depend upon the applicant’s citizenship and the local consulate’s pricing policy. Please note that it is extremely difficult and expensive to prolong a visa once in Russia so please be sure to indicate clearly the length of your stay in Russia. Visas are valid for one entry only.
