School Description

Hispaniola, Academia Caribe de Lenguas offers Spanish language courses from January to November in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. It was founded in 1996 by a group of young Europeans and it has become the leading Spanish language school and organization in the Dominican Republic.
Hispaniola Academia Caribe de Lenguas is dramatically increasing its number of enrolments, thanks to the positive experience of past students.

• Our courses, taught by young, enthusiastic professors trained in the latest teaching techniques, are based on modern methods and professional organization, which guarantee fast progress in the shortest possible time.
• Lessons follow the Direct Method, emphasizing the spoken language at school, where only Spanish is spoken from the first day, as well as during free time.
• We promote cultural encounters between students and Dominicans through organized nightly activities.
• All our teachers are young university graduates who have been especially trained and regularly upgraded.
• The school secretariat is available for providing information. We are able to organize all kinds of activities and excursions directly and/or through our travel agency.
• Preparation courses to DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a foreign language) 1,2,3
• Possibility to attend some interesting short "on-field" courses about different aspects of Dominican society, history, culture and folklore.
• Possibility to organize lessons which include lunch with teachers, in order to continue practicing the new language during the luch-break.
• Large variety of special courses such as Spanish for Emergency Corps, Spanish for Politicians and Diplomats, Spanish for Medical Purposes, course on Tourism and Culture, Dancing course and Cooking course.

All the accomodation are located into or near the Colonial area, and near the school when possible.
Students can choose between hotels (single, or double rooms if they travel in pairs) and shared apartments (single or double room and communal kitchen and bathroom). Students may choose to live either with an individual or a Dominican family during their stay. Accomodations of this sort are always comfortable and situated as soon as possible to the language school. All families are chosen through a rigorous selection process and the school staff, which is always available to handle any problem that may arise, periodically checks housing conditions.

Hispaniola Academia Caribe de Lenguas is situated in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the cradle of the New World and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The school is located in a perfectly restored colonial building in the city's fascinating and perfectly restored historic centre, where you can literally step back in history to the "Siglo de Oro" and the age of Spanish colonization, while you breathe in the cultural and artistic atmosphere of this World Heritage Site for humanity.

• Organization of a large variety of cultural and leisure activities on a regular basis.
• All students are provided with a monthly review of leisure time activities and, on request, a Toursit Guide of Santo Domingo and the Dominican Republic.
• Certificate of Attendance (on request) at the end of any course.
• More certificates: Diploma basico de Dominio de la Lengua (on request, at the end of 3rd level), Diploma de Dominio de la Lengua (on request, at the end of 6th level), Diploma Idioma Español (on request, at the end of 8th level and after examination).
• Preparation to DELE 1,2 or 3.
• Upon request, courses in Latin America dance and Creole cooking can be arranged.
• Transfer from the airport to students' apartments, if booked in advance.
